Get set up in 10 minutesThe four things to do first: your page, your link, your fans, your first email.
  1. Settings: add your name, a short bio, and your handle. Your main page lives at growstoke.com/yourhandle.
  2. Pages → New page: pick a template, add your links and music, and press Publish. Then press Make main page so it shows at your address.
  3. Put the link everywhere: your Instagram and TikTok bio, YouTube, and a QR code at shows and on the merch table (the QR button on each page).
  4. Import: bring in the fans you already have (MailerLite, Mailchimp, TextMyGuests or a spreadsheet).
  5. Campaigns → New campaign: send a short hello so your list knows where you are now.

Your page and fan list are free, with no fan limit. Emailing is pay-per-send or a plan (see Plans, pay-per-send and cancelling).

Pages & drops

Move over from LinktreeBring your Linktree links over in one click.
  1. Go to Pages → Import from Linktree.
  2. Paste your Linktree address (like linktr.ee/yourname) and press Import.
  3. GrowStoke builds a page with your profile, your links (grouped the same way), music players for music links, and a signup form.
  4. Check it, press Publish, then Make main page.
  5. Swap the link in your bios for growstoke.com/yourhandle.

The big difference from Linktree: every visitor can join your fan list, for free, with no limit.

Your main address, QR codes and page statsgrowstoke.com/yourhandle, posters and flyers, and where your fans come from.
  • Main page: press Make main page on a page and it shows at growstoke.com/yourhandle. Change your handle in Settings.
  • QR code: the QR button on each page gives you a code to print on posters, flyers and the merch table (PNG or SVG). Scans show up as "QR code" in your stats.
  • Stats: the Stats button shows views, signups and join rate, which sources bring fans (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, QR, email…), and which buttons get tapped.
  • Copy link gives you the page's address; add ?s=instagram (or any word) to the end to track a specific post or flyer.
Drops: countdowns and "Notify me"A page around one release, show or product, that flips live at the time you set.

Go to Pages → New drop (or Get new fans → Drops). Pick what it's for (a release, an event, a product) and name it.

  • In the Drop block, set Goes live (date and time) and the Link when it goes live (the song, tickets or shop). The link stays hidden until then.
  • Fans tap Notify me with just an email or phone and get tagged automatically.
  • At the go-live time the page flips by itself to a big button with your link.
  • Send everyone who RSVP'd an email at that moment (a campaign aimed at the drop's tag).

Fan-only drops (Engage current fans) do the same for people already on your list, plus a "first dibs" email you check and send.

Pre-saves and pre-ordersFans join your list, then pre-save on Spotify or Apple Music, or pre-order on iTunes, Amazon or Bandcamp.

Start with Get new fans → Pre-saves & pre-orders (or Engage current fans → Pre-save push to also draft an email to your list). Then paste your links into the Drop block under Pre-save links and Buy / pre-order.

Where the links come from: - Your distributor first: upload the song a couple of weeks before release so the stores have it. - Spotify: in Spotify for Artists, open the upcoming release and create a Countdown Page, then copy its link. Your distributor's pre-save link works too (DistroKid HyperFollow, CD Baby, TuneCore…). - Apple Music: the upcoming album's link (music.apple.com/…) has Apple's own Pre-Add button. - iTunes / Amazon pre-orders: switched on by your distributor when you upload (look for a pre-order date); copy the store link. - Bandcamp: turn on pre-order on your album page and paste the link.

What happens: fans join first (so your list grows), then tap to pre-save or pre-order. Each fan who does is tagged presave or preorder and moves up a notch on your fan ladder. On release day the buttons become "Listen on…" and "Buy on…".

GrowStoke sees the tap; the store confirms the actual pre-save or sale (Spotify for Artists, your distributor or Bandcamp show the totals).

Give a free download for joiningTrade a track, a guide or a code for an email.
  1. Upload the file somewhere fans can open it: Google Drive, Dropbox, or a Bandcamp free download. Set it so anyone with the link can view it.
  2. Go to Get new fans → Free download for signup.
  3. Add what it is (like "By the Sea, acoustic demo") and paste the link (it must start with https://). Press Save.

Everyone who joins on any of your pages then sees a button to get it. The link stays hidden until they've joined. To stop offering it, press Turn off.

Tip: open the link in a private browser window first, to check it works without signing in.

Your fans

Import your fansFrom MailerLite, TextMyGuests, Shopify, Square, Bandcamp or any spreadsheet.
  1. Export your contacts as a CSV file from your old tool (MailerLite, Mailchimp, TextMyGuests, Shopify, Square, Bandcamp, a Google Sheet…).
  2. Go to Import, pick where it's from (or Other CSV) and drop the file in.
  3. Match the columns: at least an Email or Phone column, plus name, city and so on if you have them.
  4. Optionally Tag everyone in this import (like "mailerlite") so you can find them later.
  5. Tick Everyone on this list asked to hear from me, then import.

Duplicates are matched by email and phone, so importing the same list twice won't create copies. Imported fans don't get your welcome email.

Only import people who signed up, bought something, or gave you their contact. Bought or scraped lists hurt your delivery and break the rules.

The fan ladder: Followers, Fans and SuperfansWhat each level means and how fans move up.
  • Follower: on your list (signed up, imported, RSVP'd).
  • Fan: bought once (a ticket, merch, music, a tip) or pre-saved / pre-ordered a release.
  • Superfan: two or more of those, or someone you set by hand.

Heat (on the Engage chart) is how recently they've engaged, measured against how often you email: Hot = active since about your last email, Warm = within your last few emails, Cold = quiet for longer. Until you've sent two campaigns, about 3 months counts as one email.

Fans move up automatically from purchases you record and from pre-saves. You can also set a fan's level by hand with Fan level. The goal GrowStoke is built around: 1,000 superfans.

Find fans, tag them and record salesSearch, filters, tags, Mark as bought and Export CSV.

In Fans: - Search and filter by name, city, state, tag, level, heat, or whether they have a phone; sort by most engaged or biggest spenders. - Select fans to Add tag, Mark as bought (a ticket, merch, music…), or set their Fan level. - Click a fan to see their timeline: signups, emails opened and clicked, purchases, pre-saves. - Export CSV downloads your whole list any time. Your fans are yours.

Email

Send your first emailWrite it, test it, pick who gets it, send or schedule.
  1. Campaigns → New campaign. Write a subject and your email; {first_name} fills in each fan's name. Drag blocks in (including Two columns, Color band, Pull quote and Feature card for a magazine look), click any words to type right in the email, drag an image's corner to resize it, and pick a look under Look, or 🎨 Use my landing page look. ✨ Ideas next to the subject suggests subject lines and preview text; ✨ Polish shows an AI-improved version side by side with yours, and nothing changes unless you keep it. The Email checkup above Send flags things to fix first.
  2. Audience: everyone, a tag, a level (Fans, Superfans), heat, a city or state, or engagement (opened or clicked recent emails).
  3. Mailing address: the first time you send, GrowStoke asks for one (it's in Settings too). The law requires a postal address at the bottom of every email; a PO Box is fine. Campaigns, automations and announcements wait until it's there.
  4. Send test to me and check it on your phone.
  5. Send now or Schedule for later.

Afterwards the campaign shows opens, clicks and Clicks by link, and you can Resend to fans who didn't open.

Every email includes your mailing address and an unsubscribe link (required by law). Set your address and where replies go in Settings → Email sending.

Big sends, waves and staying out of spamHow your first big send works, and what pauses sending.
  • No daily limit. Send to your whole list from day one.
  • Your first big send (more than 500 people) from the shared GrowStoke address goes to your 200 most engaged fans first, then everyone else 30 minutes later, once we've checked nothing bounced. It only happens once. Sending from your own domain skips it (see the next article).
  • Send in daily waves (in the Send panel) spreads a big list over days, most engaged fans first.
  • Sending pauses automatically if more than 5% of emails bounce or more than 0.3% are marked as spam. Clean your list, then contact us to resume.
  • Addresses that bounce or complain anywhere on GrowStoke are never emailed again, which protects everyone's delivery.

Tips: email people who asked to hear from you, send from your own domain (see the next article), and keep subject lines honest.

Send email from your own domainnews@yourband.com instead of a GrowStoke address.
  1. Go to Settings → Send from your own domain and enter your domain (like yourband.com).
  2. GrowStoke shows a few DNS records. Add them where your domain is managed (GoDaddy, Squarespace, Cloudflare…) or send them to whoever runs your website.
  3. GrowStoke checks them automatically; once verified, your emails come from your address.

Until then, emails go out from a GrowStoke address with your name on them. Own-domain sending is included from the Growing plan.

Welcome and birthday emailsEmails that send themselves when someone joins or has a birthday.

In Automations, turn on a Welcome email (sent when someone joins from one of your pages) or a Birthday email (around 10am on their birthday, if they gave you one).

Write it once, test it, switch it on. Each automation shows how many were sent, opened and clicked. Automations are included in every paid plan; imported fans don't get the welcome email.

Plans & account

Plans, pay-per-send and cancellingWhat's free, what plans add, and how to change or cancel.
  • Free: your pages, drops, pre-saves and fan list (no limit), the fan ladder and page stats. Email when you want: $5 per 1,000 fans reached ($5 minimum), paid before it sends.
  • Plans (email as often as you like, automations, detailed reports, no "Made with GrowStoke" on your pages): Starter $9.99/month (up to 1,000 fans), Growing $19.99 (3,000), Active $29.99 (5,000), Spotlight $39.99 (10,000). Yearly = 2 months free.
  • Pick or change a plan: Settings → Plan. Have a coupon? Enter it on the Stripe checkout page.
  • Card, invoices, cancel: Settings → Plan → Card, invoices & cancel. Your plan works until the end of the period you paid for, then you're back on Free. Your pages and fans stay.
  • Payments are handled by Stripe; GrowStoke never sees your card.
Can't sign in, or no email arrived?Confirmation and password reset emails, and what to check.
  • New account: after Create an account, confirm your email from the message sent by GrowStoke (no-reply@growstoke.com). Check Spam and Promotions.
  • Already have an account? Use Sign in, not "Create an account". Signing up again with the same email doesn't send anything.
  • Forgot your password: Forgot password? on the sign-in screen sends a reset link. The link brings you back to set a new password.
  • Still stuck: email hello@growstoke.com from the address you signed up with.
Texting and Instagram DM captureWhere these stand and how they work.
  • Texting is coming soon: your own number, text campaigns and replies, as an add-on on any plan (even Free), about $5/month for the number plus about 3¢ a text in packs. You can already collect phone numbers on your pages.
  • Instagram DM capture is in early access: go to Get new fans → Instagram DM capture, press Connect Instagram (a Business or Creator account), then set a Story reply keyword and your Welcome DM. When a follower replies to your story with the keyword, GrowStoke DMs them and adds them as a Follower. It's open to accounts GrowStoke has added as testers until Instagram approves GrowStoke for everyone.

We'll email you when texting is ready.

Your fans' data and privacyWho owns your list, who sees it, and how to delete it.
  • Your fans are yours. Export them any time (Fans → Export CSV). We never sell fan data or use it for anyone else's marketing.
  • Who sees them: only you (and GrowStoke when you ask for help). Other creators can't see your fans.
  • Fans stay in control: every email has an unsubscribe link, and texts will support STOP.
  • Delete a fan: open them in Fans and press Delete. To close your account and delete your data, email hello@growstoke.com.
